Ireland: Guinness Arthur's Day

27/9/12

We ended work at 1pm and went to Dublin for Guinness Arthur's day. My boss and supervisor were so nice to grant me half day work off. As the name of the event suggests, Irish people drinks to celebrate the day.

We don't drink but we thought of taking the opportunity to visit Dublin (by bus that was arranged by the college) and sort of trying to understand the culture a little more through the Guinness Arthur's day. There were 120 people who went and we were the only Asians hahaha.

(Actually we are supposed to attend the Mid-Autumn Dinner with the Chinese Society but we ended up going to Dublin.)

On the bus, I was astonished! Some of them already took out alcohol and started drinking. One of them offered us a drink which he claimed is apple juice but it was actually hard liquor ( liquor in apple juice bottle) hahaha.

After 1.5 hours of ride, we reached Dublin. DUBLIN IS REALLY A NICE PLACE! Very different from Athlone. The first thing we did was EAT as we were starving. We dined at Sushi King.

hahaahah Singapore noodles

There were a number of pubs taking part in the Guinness Arthur's Day.

By right, we should go and try out one of the pubs but in the end we decided to walk around and explore the place (I think it was the right choice). We went to the national wax museum but it was quite disappointing though. I was expecting something like the one in Hong Kong but there were limited wax statues.

hahahaha i just wanna let you see how real it is

whats lala doing there?

I was attracted to the bands performing on the streets. HEN YOU FEEEEEEEEEEEL~ v inspiring! I hereby dedicate the long hair band member to all of you ahahhahahah.

We gathered back at 9pm to hop onto the bus back to the college. (hahahaah the bus uncle told us before that taking taxi back to Athlone will cost about 120 euro, so we MUST get onto the bus before this went off.) Before going up the bus, I was quite worried about the expected drunkard situation. But lucky it was ok and nothing happened except for a guy lying on the floor. He is a big guy and it took them quite a while to bring him up the bus.

Very nice structure of Stephen's Green shopping centre

Ireland: Personal Growth

My supervisor asked me to type out an article today. The title is "5 Barriers to Personal Growth". It is really meaningful! I did not just simply type it out but I actually read it in details and I find some of the points relating to myself.

One of the points mentioned about letting the past be the current. The author said that he was shocked that people talks about their past in a tone filled with anger or grief. In order to overcome this barrier, one needs to go beyond the emotions. Having so, he/she will be able to speak about their past with a 'charge-neutral' tone.

Another barrier is being fearful about the future. People usually thinks about the 'what ifs'. Unfortunately, 98% of the 'what ifs' does not happen. And in order to overcome this, one needs to come out with plans to deal with the possible situations that might arise in the future.

If you are able to do so, you would be able to be your best self and live to the fullest.
