Ireland: Wicklow Mountain

12/10/12

Our bosses gave us off on Friday and since we have a long weekend, we decided to visit Wicklow Mountain and stay over there. We found a nice guesthouse (Lough Dan House) online. It was on Wednesday when we came upon the website and we thought that we couldn't book it due to short prior notice. Fortunately, the host replied us the next day and arranged things out for us.

On Friday, we woke up early to catch the citylink bus to Heuston Station (Dublin). From there, we took a cab to Dawson Street and caught the bus to Glendalough. ahahhahaha I know it's a super complicated journey. After 4 hours, we finally reached Glendalough. We called Sean (the host) but his wife picked up the phone and said that she has alrady sent a red car to pik us up. The guy whi picked us up was Peter (Sean's son). ahahahah He looks like a member from Westlife. "an empty street, an empty house, an hole inside my heart~". It took about 15-20 minutes to reach Lough Dan House.

Look at the scenery the house is facing...

Three words to describe the guesthouse:
Well-furnished
Clean
Cosy

 nice view from the window

the bathroom is cleaner than the one in our student accommodation

After 4 hours of bus rides up the mountains, we were really hungry. So, we asked for food hehehe.

These sandwiches were really delicious and AMAZING. There was no meat, with only cheddar cheese, onions and tomatos added, it tasted superb!
After settling down, Theresa (Sean's wife) suggested that we go for a walk. She taught us the directions and off we go. The route was really THRILLING and ADVENTUROUS. I LIKE!  hahahahaha omg i nearly fell on the muddy pavement. While trying very hard to prevent my shoes from being submerge in the mud I was hugging the fence. HAHAAHHAHA AND I GOT POKED AND TRAPPED BY THE THORNS.

It took me quite awhile to free myself. I actually have to take off my coat then pull the thorns out one by one hahahah. Then we continued walking and saw the lake.

Its really spectacular, isn't it? How i wished my family and friends were there to see the scenery...our eyes are the best camera in the world, with the most realistic view.

shhhh meditating...

Spot the rainbow

looked like teletubbies land

It reminded me of the ending of teletubbies show. 5 of them will bid goodbye one by one and hide themselves in the bushes. After a while, they will jump up again and started giggling. hahahaah they are trying to be funny.

13/10/12

We went horse riding the next morning. We were light hearted while on the way to the horse riding place as we thought that it was only a 5 minutes walk to the place. Little did we know that it was actually longer. After 20 minutes of walk, we saw a mini bus coming from the back and we realised that it was Sean! It was so nice of him to come and fetch us as he thought that we would not be able to make it back for lunch if we continued walking with that kind of speed.

We passed by abundance of christmas trees on our way there

The last time i rode on a horse was 5 years back when I was in China. All I could remember was the horse shitted in front of me. My friend got up the horse first and I thought that her horse (Pearly) is quite small as compared to a normal horse size.

While waiting for my turn, I spotted this unique looking horse. It looks like a cow with white fur and black patches on it. And its really HUGE! A lady was holding onto it and I thought that she was preparing to ride on it. After which, the horse was at stand-by position and the person called out my name and asked me to ride on the huge horse.hahahahaha I was shocked.

What I imagined was that we will be riding the horse within the place and with someone holding onto the horse in front. But we actually went on a 2 hours trail, riding through forest, passing by lake, going up hills and down slopes ALL BY OURSELVES (as in we controlled the horses by ourselves).

I didn't take any picture during the trail as I was already having a hard time steering and controlling the HUGE HORSE (Joe). Joe likes to sidetrack a lot haahah, stopping by trees to eat the leaves or lowering his head to reach the grass on the ground. I actually exerted a lot of force keeping him moving forward. If I were to describe the horse trail...IT WAS EXACTLY LIKE THE SCENES IN THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA.

The instructor (Liam) said that initially he did not intend to bring us through uphills, down slopes, muddy and rocky paths, but he witnessed us steering well and managed to get a hold of the horses, so he brought us through a more tricky and difficult trail. After which, he brought us to his favourite site: the land field.

Hahahahah the big field reminded me of the show: Huan Zhu Ge Ge.

so hard to pull Joe's head up for a picture, need to exert a lot of force

ahaahha notice he still have grass in his mouth

 Liam and I

After horse riding, we walked back to Lough Dan House. We took 1.5 hours to walk back and the journey back was all uphills @.@

We were jokingly saying that scarli lunch is raw salmon again. And TADA~ we really had raw salmon >.<

 Super nice cereal bars

DINNER:

 Starter: Saba Fish

 Main: Pork

Dessert: Ice Cream
too fullllllllllllllllllllllllllll

14/10/12

Woke up with aches all over my legs and butt due to the horse riding. We left at 8.30am and Sean drove us to Dublin.

Theresa and Sean
After we reached Dublin, we did not head back to Athone. We took a Luas (Tram) to Dundrum Town Centre for some shopping. And we had Thai food for lunch: Tom Yum Soup with Chicken, Sweet Chilli Chicken and Green Curry with Chicken. hahahaha all with chicken. OMG HEN HAO CHI! Best meal so far...
